Agit: Kurdish People's Source of Hope
Believing the heroic resistance of our people in the week of heroism will continue with the line of Mazlums, Egits, Zilans and Beritans; we state that in 2011 victory is closer than ever.
Comrade Mazlum Doğan's action in Diyarbakır Prison and the date of martyr of comrade Mahsum Korkmaz being respectively 21 and 28 March is recognised as the week of heroism by our people. We once again commemorate gratefully all our martyrs showing great sacrifice for our people's and humanity's march of freedom and victory.
The history of the people's freedom is written by great heroic sacrifices, courage, faith and commitment. The resistance of the Kurdish people has begun by the resistance of blacksmith Kawa against the great savagery and slavery, against the persecution of Dehak and by burning the fire of freedom at Newroz celebrations. Contemporary Kawa-Mazlum Doğan set his body on fire with the slogan of ''To live is to resist'' in order to protest the cruel Dehaks of the 20th century and launch the great march of freedom against oppression. The flag of the freedom march was carried by Agit-the creator of 15 August - to the mountains of the Botan.
As a guerrilla commander, comrade Egit symbolizes the great faith, will and courage of Apoism therefore he became a source of great hope for the Kurdish people. Within the PKK's struggle for freedom, comrade Egit is a brave and unselfish commander of the people of Kurdistan who started the march to victory.
Comrade Egit is a great immortal commander of the movement of the Apoist movement. Due to comrade Egit's efforts and hard work our resistance struggle and guerrilla settled in the mountains of Kurdistan and therefore reached a victory march. He created a legacy of the Apoist commandership and style. Today the HPG- following the line of Egit-with its 21st century legitimate defence strategy has been a great source of hope and inspiration for the freedom struggle of our people.
The great war of liberation which began with Mazlum and became a magnificent heroic resistance reached victory by forming the party then with Egit formed the guerrilla and reached its self-defence. Our people's freedom struggle in Newroz during this Week of Heroism is a result of this heroic heritage. It is due to this that heroism and resistance embraced millions.
Our people from all walks of life are struggling against the years of tyranny and slavery. As the HPG, we congratulate the heroic resistance of our people and state once again on the occasion of the week that we will defend our people. Against any attacks that will be developed against our people, no matter what terms and conditions are, with the spirit of Egit we will fight to carry the APO's freedom line to the victory.
