Ibrahim Kaypakkaya
The Revolutionary who has chosen death rather than disclose any secrets
Ibrahim Kaypakkaya, born in 1949, Corum, Alaca is known as a revolutionary who has chosen death rather than revealing any secrets. He encountered left-wing ideas at Istanbul University, Faculty of Science, where he studied physics. He became one of the founders of Capa Fikir (Idea) Club in March 1968.
He sided with MDD during the separation between Fikir Club and Turkey Workers’ Party (TIP). After this clash of ideas, he established the Turkey Communist Party Marxist Leninist (TKP/ML-TIKKO).
He engaged in an armed conflict with the Turkish army on 24 January 1973 in Vartinik area, Dersim where TKP/ML activities had been intensified. Kaypakkaya, who was wounded during the conflict, had been captured after five days on the information given to the authorities by a teacher in the village where he was staying.
He was tortured for four months but never admitting to anything, and as a result, massacred in Amed dungeon on 18 May 1973.
